Orchid growth stimulants

In this topic we will deal with substances that have recognized effect on plant development, many of which are already routinely used_cc781905-781905-cc781905 -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_by  collectors.
I believe you will be excited to use these substances to improve the performance of your crops, but be careful, they are substances they are used in minimal doses and that the wrong dose will bring serious problems to your plants; Many of them are even used as herbicides. The difference between the product being a stimulant or a substance that will kill your orchid is in the dose, and the line that separates the two is very thin.

Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin)

Em 1992, Ilya Raskin, publicou um interessante artigo científico na revista_cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Plant Physiol under the heading "Salicylate, A New Plant Hormone1". Since the time of publication until today, the issue has gained popularity due to the ease of acquiring aspirin in pharmacies.
As primeiras suspeitas vieram estudando o conhecido efeito de que as secreções de pulgões estimulavam a flowering in certain plants. When studying this secretion, it was concluded that the effect was due to the salicylate present therein. In Orchids, the positive effect on flowering was first demonstrated in Oncidium, being progressively proven in several orchids.
Later it was discovered that salicylate also has an effect as a protector against diseases, even developing a defense against the feared tobacco mosaic virus that has already infected so many orchids. Aspirin also increases seed germination and stimulates leaf and root development.
In 2014, the Journal of Horticulture, in the article "Post-Harvest Physiology and Technology in Orchids" pointed out acid salicylic acid as one of the best preservative agents for cut orchids.
The indicated dosage is the dilution of an aspirin for each 5 liters of water, spraying the orchids every 3 or 4 weeks.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine)

_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d vitamin B1 stimulate root formation or reduce the stress generated by transplanting contrary to what many collectors claim. On the other hand, studies show that Vitamin B1 produces stronger plants and  with better development than untreated plants, further studies are needed to confirm whether there is any effect of Vitamin B on plant growth. It is usually sold associated with other plant hormones.
Em uso isolado, a dose normlamente used is 400mg per liter of water. Apply every 10 days until the orchid takes root.
Um comprimido de de benerva (nome commercial) has 300mg, so use one tablet for 750ml of water.
Vitamin C

_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d most harmful portion of the smoke), improves the photosynthesis process, reduces brown spots, preventing growth atrophy.
Vitamin E

Estudos da Uiversidade de Toronto e do Estado de Michigan indicam que a suplementação  com Vitamina E diminui os efeitos negativos low temperatures.
Auxins (Indole-3-Acetic Acid - AIA and Indole Butyric Acid - IBA)

In summary, we can find Indole-3-Propyl Acid – AIP or IPA, Naphthalene Acetic Acid – ANA or NAA. The AIA that is synthesized in mature leaves appears to be transported to the rest of the plant. It promotes stem elongation, it can also inhibit the growth of lateral buds. The auxins naturally move to the opposite side of the brightest light, causing the plant to bend towards the light side. Auxins also promote root growth. The application of auxins naturally promotes greater growth of stems, leaves and roots. In inadequate doses has herbicidal effect.
Gibberellins

In the 1930s, Japanese scientists obtained impure crystals of two active compounds from the fungus Giberella fujikuroi, which caused a disease in rice plants characterized by excessive stalk growth, but only in the 50s was its structure described. Currently, 125 different gebberellins are known.
Giberelinas também atuam no alongamento dos caules além de estimular o ínício da floração, _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_bigger fruits and maintenance. It has a stimulating action on seed germination.
SuperThrive

Superthrive is one of the best known and classic stimulants used in orchidophilia.   The formula has been on the market since 1940.
Superthrive is composed of synthetic rooting hormone_cc781905-14cde3b5b5b-3196Naphthalene Acetic Acid(NAA) (0.048%) , Vitamin B1 (0.9%) (also reported as a rootizer),  added to over 50 secret ingredients, probably_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_seaweed extracts, humates, soluble iron compounds and the like.
O produto tem  a venda proibida em alguns states of the USA, as it is considered an unregistered pesticide
Pyroligneous Extract

Liquid obtained naturally from charcoal through the condensation of smoke from the carbonization of wood during the production of charcoal. It has been used for millennia in Japanese culture.
It has _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf5 insect repellant and pH_8d reducer. Studies done with orchids have shown the potential to increase the number of roots, increase the number of bulbs and the size of the plant part.
The ideal dose is de_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-5cf58d_ ), one application every 30 days.
The pyrolig extract in more concentrated doses has herbicidal functions._cc781905-94cbbde_35b
Seaweed

Seaweed has been added to many specialized fertilizer formulas.   Seaweeds have a wide variety of micronutrients as well as plant hormones such as auxins and gibberellins.
Uma das algas mais usadas é a Ascophyllum nodosum, a qual contem macronutrientes (N, P, K, Ca, Mg,_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_S), micronutrientes (Mn, Cu, Fe, Zn, etc.), além of cytokinins, auxins, gibberellins, betaines, mannitol, organic acids, polysaccharides, amino acids and proteins that are useful for plant metabolism.
